Description: “Ripped from the Headlines” – using cases and headlines in the last year to tease out some practical strategies for HR and emerging trends. Learning Objectives:
1. Analyze significant labor and employment law cases, agency guidance, and enforcement actions from the past year and assess their impact on employer compliance obligations.
2. Apply recent legal developments to real-world HR scenarios by identifying practical strategies to mitigate risk, update policies, and manage workplace issues effectively.
3. Evaluate emerging trends in labor and employment law to anticipate future litigation, regulatory priorities, and best practices for advising employers. Speaker Bio:
Mark Bakker Mark Bakker is a recognized employment law litigator and trusted legal advisor in employment and other business-related matters. He represents clients in federal and state courts throughout North and South Carolina, arbitration panels, before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the South Carolina Human Affairs Commission and other state and federal agencies. He provides daily proactive advice and counseling to employers on many human resources issues. In addition to advising a wide variety of established corporations, Mark advises HR consulting firms, management teams, entrepreneurs, start-up companies, and staffing companies.
